Sunday Supernatural Week #2

I need to preface this by saying that I wish everyone I knew could come and experience a Sunday morning at Mountain Park. Especially during this series “Supernatural” it is incredible and a great call to action for all Christians and non believers.

Andrew began speaking about his drive home from Texas. He painted a picture of the majesty around him, the sky the mountains, everything he doesn’t always see here in Ontario. He explained that the majesty he saw on the road driving home from Texas is lost in our everyday lives. The Wonder and Awe, the unexplained feeling of knowing God which makes us contagious is Lost. The presence of the Supernatural is lost in us. Wonder and Awe found driving past the beautiful landscape of the mountains and sky is the kind of Wonder and Awe in God our Majesty that should be living in our heart all the time.

We were reminded of everything we talked about last week, The hunger the world has to encounter the Supernatural, why people are not attracted to the church to encounter the Supernatural, how traditions and rules and regulations have lead us away from experiencing the power of God and especially how the Supernatural is out of sight out of mind in today’s churches.

The question: asked was

“Why would I waste my time being part of a church which is a “Hierarchy of traditions?”
Hypothesis:
If God was fully active and present in a Supernatural way in our services we wouldn’t have enough seats for the amount of people who would come.
Churches are filled with people are filled with knowledge and think they “KNOW” God but
Information does not = relationship
Again the question, have you left space for God to do things only He can do.

Today the topic in the Supernatural Series is :
3rd Heaven the Throne Room of God
Heavens, the 3rd heaven, which is the throne, room of God- this is the control center of the Universe.

Who is God? He is Almighty “Almighty” =God’s power has not limits. God can not lie because its not part of his nature. He doesn’t make things that are flawed because he is perfect. We were perfect in his image. God is Infinity, there are no boundaries, God has always been here, He is in Canada and in Japan at the same time, and He is everywhere. God is Spirit, He is not a ghost, and he’s invisible and is the visible image of the invisible God. Pure Actuality, God IS existence, he does not Have existence, HE IS existence. That existence forms the framework of who we are. God is existence, he can Not NOT exist, We would not exist if he did not exist. God is uncreated (uncaused) not created by himself but always was. We were created from Him.
Some people believe that we came from nothing that happened over time, but something can’t come from nothing. Example:

Without someone creating a painting there would be no painting. If the paint was sitting on the ground with a canvas in front of it and a paint brush it would not create the painting without someone creating it. In the same way God took action and took something which was nothing and turned it into something. God is being and brings things into being. God is Eternal, he is Infinite, to say he was infinite before and after time can’t be. Eternity means that God is outside that realm of time and space. God is the painter creating the world he was not someone inside the painting, he painted the world, and He created us into being.

Supernatural encounters example #1

Moses as we talked about last week wanted to meet God in a new way. He met with God face to face all the time but this time he said he really wanted to KNOW Him. (Exodus 34:5-7) This is the only time in scripture when God declares who he is to us. He declares His name. This is a Supernatural encounter with the living God. Immediately God tells Moses he wants to relate to Him. We need to know who God is in order to have a relationship with Him. People are seeking experiences in the wrong places and things bring people to fear the Supernatural. If we don’t understand God and don’t know Him and seek Him and wide up in the wrong place, we could be in trouble. What we need to remember is that God is Peace and God is freedom. If we experience anything exuding other characteristics it is NOT the Supernatural God.

Genesis 1:1 is the first intro to their being multiple heavens. It talks about “Heaven’s” in a plural sense. Not only One heaven. It says “Not even the Highest of Heaven’s can contain you.” This is plural.

2 Corinthians 12 – Paul is talking about people boasting about what God has done in their lives. He says “I was caught up to the 3rd heaven 14 years ago, caught up in paradise and heard things so full of awe that people can’t talk about” this is the only verse In the bible that talks about the 3rd heaven. Paul says he won’t boast about it. He heard things that were to scared and holy to tell anyone on earth about.

If the throne room of God is the 3rd heaven it is believed by some theologians that the second heaven is where angels and demons operate which is in outer space and the first heaven is the atmosphere around us. But these are only theories theologians have to explain the other 2 heavens. They are not written in the bible.

So what exactly happens in the 3rd Heaven?

Job 1:6 talks about what goes on in 3rd heaven, the throne room of God. This is a part of the bible I personally have never read before so when I did I was completely taken back with what I was learning. It was a story I had heard before but I never read it for myself.

Job is a wealthy man; God has blessed him with crops, a large family and wealth. He is devoted to God and his life has been blessed by God because of it. In this chapter in the Bible Stan is assured into the 3rd heaven, the throne room of God with Angels and God asks him what he has been doing, and he replies that he has been walking around the earth, watching and seeing what’s happening.

God asks Satan, Do you know Job? He is doing amazing. Satan than says to God that he is only amazing because God has blessed him with so much. SO God allows Satan to test Job but tells him he can not kill Him. Satan had to come to God’s throne room to ask Him for permission to do anything and God allowed it because He knew that even though Job would loose his wealth he would still worship Him.

Satan came back after trying and not succeeding and said to God if you take Job’s health away he will not worship you. So God allows him to have Boils but does not allow him to die. By the end of the story he has lost everything, all of his family, his land and all of his clothes yet he still worships God.

Supernatural encounters example #2

In Revelation John has a vision and instantly he is in the Spirit. This is an example of a Supernatural encounter. John had deep descriptions of things we cannot understand. He talks about this Supernatural encounter in Revelation.

Our society has boiled God down to structure and traditions in Church. Our view of the almighty God has been destroyed. God wants to give each of us a new personal revelation of who He is. We need to cry out to God and say we don’t know you God in the same way Moses and John did. And ask to know God so you can experience A supernatural encounter with God not for ourselves but so that people will see the unexplained through us. That should be why we long to encounter the Supernatural.
-We can explain everything that happens on a Sunday Morning but that doesn’t even capture what God is doing.

Supernatural encounters example #3

Paul was a person who had more information than anyone but he did not KNOW God until he had a supernatural encounter with God. He then spent 3 years in the dessert getting to know God, learning from the Holy Spirit which gave him understand for the vision God had for his life. The Holy Spirit through that encounter over 3 years in the dessert gave him the vision to go out an live the life that God had designed for him. What we need to do to encounter the Supernatural is lay down everything in our lives. How we do church for example and we may not know or understand the right way but we just need to lay it down. This can be a scary thought, to let go of things in our lives that we hold on to but we have to let it go.

All of these examples of Supernatural encounters did not only happen with the apostles but they can happen today with us. God still meets with us in a Supernatural way like he did with the apostles. We don’t expect it, and even don’t want it anymore. And yet we wonder why the church building is not packed out. People are not going to come to church if they do not see God.

More about the 3rd heaven:
It is a place where God sits on in his throne room. A place where Angels and demons have to as God permission for that they want to do. It is completely outside the realm of time. You can’t travel their. It is a spiritual place, where men and woman can travel there in Spirit.

this is the place Moses, John and Paul travelled in Spirit.
God tells us it is a treasure to search these mysteries, He says it is our Glory. If you search for it, God will give it to you. There is a place beyond our space and time. This is a real place where God’s throne room exists. We can never know it without knowing God.

To wrap things up Isaiah chapter 6 talks about Vision. It talks about Angels rejoicing saying Holy Holy Holy. Isaiah sees this revelation from God. Isaiah says it is all over but I have seen the Kind. His guilt was removed as hi lips are touched and he is made free.

The Question God is asking us:

“Do you really want to know me, or are you satisfied to continue on living knowing about me.”
It may take days, it may take months or even years but if we long to Know God and we ask Him and say “God I want to know you” He will reveal himself to us and we will encounter the Supernatural in the same way that Moses, John, and Paul did.
