Fraud!

Well I had quite the theft happen to me on Canada Day. It’s crazy because it was so distracting I didn’t get to go see the fire works or do anything else Last night because of the fraud on my RBC account.
So on Canada Day we went to Niagara Falls to have a yummy BBQ with my parents, and it was awesome! After we finished mom and I went to the Casino, the only thing that is open to check up on the old Fruits and Passions but unfortunately the new owner was there so we didn’t want to go inside.
Instead we went around the mall and I bought some things at one of the shops with my debit card. After we got back home Kyle and I left but we decided to go to the states to get some gas for the week and check and see if there were any sales on. So we went, I picked up a few things but my debit card wasn’t working which was strange.

When we got back into Canada and while we driving back home I used Kyle’s lap top to check my online banking. ( He has this gimmick that lets you surf the net while you travel- It comes in handy) Anyway, I LOST IT! When I saw that my bank account was down by $401.50! So I was looking at all the transactions and the one that mom and me made was on there but there was another one for $401.50 the same day and I hadn’t used my cared anywhere else.
And the info beside this let me know that it was a cash withdrawal, not interact from a store or a transfer..It happened in a bank machine.
After a minor melt down I got on the phone and called Royal Bank while Kyle and I were still driving home and its awesome that they work on Holidays late at night because someone was there to talk to me and they gave me a bunch of information and told me the money was taken out at 6:14 which was when I was at home having dinner with my parents. They also said the RBC investigators were not in until tomorrow but he gave me their number to leave a message.

So I left a message and today..Around 11:00 they got back to me and told me that they know for sure that my card was duplicated and the money would be put back into my account and I need to go get a new card and pin. So I did that and the money is back in my account not more than 24hours later. RBC rocks! I was worried for awhile that they wouldn’t be able to prove it wasn’t me who took the money out but they have technology that lets them know.
Anyway, I am pretty sure I know who did it.

I don’t use my debit card that often and when I do I usually swipe it but just the other day I was at “ The beat goes on” and they swiped my card and the guy seemed nervous and the swiper is hidden so you can’t see it. Everywhere else I always swipe so I think it’s there. The investigators apparently follow leads and they said they would contact the business with the perpetrator but I’m not supposed to get involved.

Anyway, that was my exciting Canada Day. I’m just sad I didn’t get to see the fireworks BUT I’m glad that money is back safe in my new RBC account.
