5 years & counting

5 years married!
That is something to smile about.
Yesterday Kyle and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary. It is incredible to see how far we have come in these first 5 years together. It feels like just yesterday we were getting married, my how time flies.
We thought long and hard about what we wanted to do this year. All the big trips we had hoped to take were too costly and as much as we long to get away to California or somewhere tropical we will have to wait until we can do it comfortably so we can enjoy ourselves without worrying about how much it’s costing. So until that time happens we will do smaller but still fun and new anniversary trips.
This year we decided to do a Toronto dinner and cruise night. It was a really good break from the rest of the world. It’s an incredible feeling to be out at sea (or lake) you feel kind of trapped, like if you needed to get off and go somewhere right away you wouldn’t know what to do. I think that’s what makes being out in the water so nice, there’s nowhere to go so relaxing and enjoying the time is all you can do.

The food was really good, we had roast beef, chicken along with some potatoes, salads and dessert was a mixture of fresh fruit, different pastries and really yummy chocolate and strawberry cakes. It was nice to see the older crowd (and I do mean older!)get down on the dance floor. The DJ was playing really old music like “Twist and Shout” old and there was this grandpa lighting up the dance floor, he must have been quite the womanizer in his youth because he definitely liked to leave an impression with the older lady crowd. He was dancing with someone new every time he got up there. It was easy to spot because there were only probably 5 groups of people actually dancing, it was hard not to watch and laugh.

It was the perfect night for weather, we spent a lot of time alone at the top of the boat just talking and feeling the nice cool wind. Before coming home we stopped by the water at a bench and exchanged gifts. I posted a picture of what Kyle got me. For 5 years married it’s all about wood, so Kyle got me this incredible wooden basket which I love and inside were some scratch tickets (since I’m a gabbling man) and a yummy peach scented candle, a very nice black sweater that you wear over outfits, it’s longer and open without any buttons, I have been searching for the perfect one for so long, it’s great to wear over dresses in the fall or winter. Inside was also a body scrub and a necklace. Out of everything I love the basket the most; it’s perfect to keep for a lifetime.
It was a great night and I am so blessed and happy to have such an incredible man like Kyle in my life. It’s great to be in love and have that person in your life who completes you and is you’re everything. I can’t wait to experience the next 5 years, I know they are going to be out of this world.

Heath - you look so beautiful! I love that dress. Happy Anniversary! Ours was last week but we didn't go out (couldn't find a sitter) so we had a quiet night at home with dinner in.

Congrats on your license too - whoo! You did it.
